Biologic Technik and Jia Ying Community Services
As Singapore’s population ages, keeping seniors active and mobile is key to their well-being. However, many older adults view exercise as intimidating or unnecessary. To change this, Biologic Technik and Republic Polytechnic developed the “Strength Training Digital Coach for Seniors” (STDCS), a gamified app that makes workouts engaging and accessible. The project was initiated by Jia Ying Community Services Society and supported by the innovPlus Challenge, which funds innovative learning solutions. The app uses smart technology to personalize fitness journeys and was launched with a mass exercise event involving 112 seniors.
Nudgyt and Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital
The article spotlights a collaboration between Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital and tech startup Nudgyt, supported by IAL’s innovPlus Challenge. Together, they developed an AI-powered training platform to improve healthcare screening for the elderly. The platform uses behavioural profiling and simulation to personalise learning for healthcare staff. This innovation addresses challenges in eldercare communication, such as language barriers and cognitive decline. The project received up to $200,000 in funding and exemplifies scalable, tech-driven learning solutions.
Radiological Science SingHealth and Playware Studios
A joint team from Radiological Science SingHealth and Playware Studios won the 2023 innovPlus Award, receiving a $200,000 grant. Their solution aims to improve emergency preparedness among radiology staff for severe contrast-related adverse events. The training uses high-fidelity, humanistic simulations with virtual patients, spoken interactions, and character-based scenarios. It also includes multiplayer, interdisciplinary problem-solving to reflect real-world dynamics. The mobile-based platform allows flexible, immersive learning to enhance patient safety and team readiness.
